AACT and ACS Education at the NSTA Regional Conferences This Fall

The National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) will be holding three area conferences on science education this fall.

Elevating Science: Digging Deeper, is the first of the three conferences and is scheduled to take place at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Reno, Nevada on October 11–13. AACT and the ACS Education Division will be presenting 14 hands on workshops over the course of the event:

• On Thursday you can learn about Inquiry in Action, Modeling Activities for High School from ChemCom, and ACS ChemClubs.
• On Friday, we will be participating in ACS Middle School and High School Day of Chemistry. The Middle School team will present 4 workshops based on chapters from MiddleSchoolChemistry.com, a popular ACS Education website. The 4 High School workshops will focus on resources to help your students learn about interparticle forces in ionic and covalent compounds.
• On Saturday you can hear about classroom resources available from ACS and AACT, along with information about the ACS Hach Grants and ChemMatters magazine.

The second NSTA area conference, Science Education: A National Priority, will be held at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland on November 15–17.

The final event, Energize Science: Educate and Engage, will take place at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, North Carolina on November 29–31.

Each of the 14 workshops that will be presented in Reno will also be presented at both the conferences in National Harbor and in Charlotte. In addition we will also be presenting a workshop about AACT resources used to teach a unit on the Periodic Table in the high school chemistry classroom.
