Apply Now to be Part of our Chemistry of Color Content Writing Team
By AACTconnect on October 28, 2016
With generous support from PPG Industries, AACT is accepting teacher applicants to be part of a new content writing team in 2017. The team of K–12 teachers will create a collection of teaching resources about the Chemistry of Color, with a focus on real-world applications that coincide with PPG’s core business, particularly paints, dyes, and ceramics.
The team will be comprised of 10 teachers of chemistry. If you are a current K–5 science teacher, 6–8 physical science teacher or 9–12 chemistry teacher, we encourage you to apply now!
Each classroom resource developed by the content writing team will be connected to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). These classroom resources will help current teachers integrate important standards into their curriculum. Examples of standards that could be connected to these teaching resources are:
- Elementary School
2-PS1-1. Matter and its Interactions: Plan and conduct an investigation to describe and classify different kinds of materials by their observable properties. - Middle School
MS-PS4-2. Waves and their Applications in Technologies for Information Transfer: Develop and use a model to describe that waves are reflected, absorbed or transmitted through various materials. - High School
HS-PS1-3. Matter and its Interactions: Plan and conduct an investigation to gather evidence to compare the structure of substances at the bulk scale to infer the strength of electrical forces between particles.
Teachers who are selected to be part of the content writing team will earn $2,000! If you think you can make a valuable contribution to this team, we would love to hear from you!
