Proposals for ChemEd 2019 Now Open
By Sherri Rukes, AACT President on December 19, 2018
The ChemEd2019 biennial conference is one of the largest for educators involved in teaching chemistry in North America. It is an opportunity for educators to gather together for five days to learn and exchange their teaching ideas in a friendly and motivating environment. ChemEd creates a community for dedicated and involved science educators and takes place on a college campus allowing for hands on labs, workshops, and demonstrations.
This year’s conference will be held in Naperville, Illinois at North Central College on July 21 – 25. Proposal submission is now open and is expected to be open until February 2, 2019.
People often ask "What should I present?" Present your passion! What do you do in your classroom that you are most proud of? We want to see it!
Many ChemEd attendees report that they love presentations that are hands-on, make and takes, related to Next Generation Science Standards, related to how you implement pedagogy into your classroom, and things that they can readily implement with their students during the upcoming school year. If you haven't presented before, please consider finding a colleague to present with you!
The strands for this years ChemEd are:
- STEM: Cross Curricular
- Technology
- K - 8 Chemistry
- Methodology/Pedagogy
- Green Chemistry
- Demonstration/Laboratory
- Specialties of Chemistry: Environmental Science, Forensics, Materials Science, Beyond 1st Year Chemistry (AP/IB/College), Assessment, and Others
