It's the time of year when teachers are looking for summer workshops, grant opportunities for their classrooms, and professional development to help them enhance their teaching. - Middle Atlantic Region ACS Division of Chemical Education Award for Excellence in High School Teaching
If you live in the Middle Atlantic Region you probably know an educator who makes outstanding contributions to chemistry education.Nominate them for the Chemical Education Award for Excellence in High School Teaching and give them the recognition they deserve! This award recognizes, encourages, and stimulates outstanding teachers of high school chemistry in the Middle Atlantic Region. This award includes a $1000 cash award and a plaque, along with travel expenses to the Regional Meeting.The deadline for nominations is April 1, 2017. The Middle Atlantic Region of the ACS consists of the following Local Sections:Central Pennsylvania, Chemical Society of Washington, Delaware, Lehigh Valley, Maryland, Monmouth County, New York, North Jersey, Ocean County, Philadelphia, Princeton, South Jersey, Southeastern Pennsylvania, Susquehanna Valley, Trenton, and Western Maryland.
- Intersociety Polymer Education Council (IPEC) Polymer Ambassadors Awards and Grant Applications
The IPEC presents two awards for teaching excellence in polymer education.The K–8 Teaching Award Teaching Award for Polymer Excellence winner receives up to $750 to attend an education related science conference, a check for $750 and a plaque that shows their accomplishments. All applications must be submitted by May 15 annually.
The High School Teaching Award Outstanding Polymer Educator Award winner receives up to $750 attend a science education related conference, a check for $1000 and a plaque that shows their accomplishments. All applications materials must be submitted by May 15 annually.
Proposals for the Grant for Polymer Supplies can receive between $100–250 to fund polymer projects in K-12 classrooms. Additionally, up to 10 grants a year will be awarded. Recipients are selected twice a year the two National ACS meetings. To be considered for the spring announcement, applications must be submitted by February 1 and for the fall announcement by July 30.
- Award for Excellence in Polymer Education by High School and Middle School Teachers
PolyEd presents awards to middle and high school science teachers who exhibit excellence in polymer education in their classrooms. Additionally, the national award winner will receive an expense-paid trip to the NSTA national meeting, work with a Polymer Ambassador, and a $1000 cash award. All applications must be submitted by May 15 annually.
- Florida ACS Section High School Teaching Award
This award recognizes excellence in teaching high school chemistry. The recipient receives a plaque and a $250 prize both for the teacher and for their school. The Florida section will also pay for the winner to attend the awards ceremony and the high school chemistry symposium held at the FAME Florida Award Symposium on May 7, 2017. Nominations are due by April 15, 2017.
